Bike maintenance courses
We offer Basic and an Intermediate bike maintenance courses at our Saxton Field workshop.
The Basic course is led by Helen Turinsky, and covers safety checks, how to look after your bike, how to remove a wheel, fix a puncture, replace brake pads and do basic brake adjustment and chain repairs. Helen says: "If you’re a little nervous about going on a bike repair course, then this is the course for you.” The Basic course costs $45 and is over three weekly sessions.
The Intermediate course will be led by Greg McIntyre and includes skills like changing and aligning disc brakes, tuning gears, maintaining the drive chain, replacing spokes, truing wheels,replacing cables, general fault finding and fixing. The Intermediate course costs $60 and is held over four weekly sessions.
Places are limited to six per course and participants are welcome to bring their own bikes to work on.
